Car accident: the accident report

1. Fill in the accident report (parte amistoso) on the spot, together with the other driver. It has the same layout all over Europe: the boxes are the same in every language.
2. Both of you sign, and each keeps a copy. Signing is not an admission of guilt: it only describes what happened.
3. Take photos: both vehicles, their position and the surroundings.
4. Send us a photo of the report on WhatsApp. We’ll take care of the rest.

TipPlease don’t just swap phone numbers and drive off: filling in the report on the spot saves a lot of trouble later.

Breakdown: tow truck and roadside assistance

1. Put on your hi-vis vest before getting out, and place the connected V-16 light on the roof.
2. Call your insurer’s roadside assistance (asistencia), not just any tow company from the internet.
3. Have your policy number, number plate and location ready; sharing your location from your phone is easiest.

Water damage at home

1. Turn off the main water tap (stopcock).
2. If water reaches sockets or appliances, switch off the electricity.
3. Photograph the damage and where it comes from before you clean up or have anything repaired.
4. If the water comes from a neighbour, or runs down to the flat below, let them know.
5. Send us the photos: we report the claim to Allianz and tell you what happens next. If you urgently need a plumber, tell us and we organise it.
